Once the star recruit of the media sensation super-team THIRD GEN, JACK XAVER had it all. But when controversy sends CROSSJACK crawling back to his mom and dad’s basement in the Midwest, Jack struggles to fit into a world he left far behind. And then the bodies start piling up. Each issue is a classic Image Comics FLIP BOOK with a lead story drawn by FLEECS and a superhero flashback into the depths of the Image Universe drawn by SEELEY.
    • this book takes place in the Image Comics Universe explored on this website
    • on lead story page 9 Jack’s mother asks him about joining other teams:

    • superhero flashback story feels like an Extreme Studios title
    • Third Gen leader Camo Crusader appears to reference the many religious characters introduced by Liefeld
    • “variant cover B” is an image of a comic book on a tabletop. The comic book, “Crossjack”, includes the header-banner “Extra-Image Presents” that was used mainly by early Extreme Studios books.
    • “variant cover C” is a foil cover drawn by Extreme Studios’ Marat Mychaels
  • Local Man (2023) #2 [Image Comics] 03/2023
    • on lead story page 19 is the same news display from Spawn titles.

From the pages of New Men… It’s Bootleg!”). ShadowHawk also appears and is mentioned on the cover. The logo’s font is reminiscent of Badrock and Company (1994). Artist Todd Nauck drew this cover and the Badrock and Company series. In the image, under this comic book are some “real world” comics: Prophet (1995) #4 & Spawn (1992) #23-25. This appears to be Bootleg’s first appearance outside of Extreme Studios comics.
